We are “breaking the silence” long maintained by the traditional church on the real-life experiences of mental health, suicide, addiction and more. BELOVED is a brave space where your story and your truth are held with grace, inclusion and compassion — not judgment. If you long to experience God and faith while living with mental illness or mental health challenges, BELOVED is the community for you.

Rev. Dale Suggs spoke at University Christian Church on May 16th, 2021, about his personal journey struggling with both his own mental health and the stigma around mental illness in teh church. His sermon, entitled “Making It Personal: Mental Health & the Church,” is profoundly honest and vulnerable. Encounter Dale’s vision of the community of Jesus’ followers as a place of healing

Emotional Health with Alane Daugherty, PhD

These guided practices are offered by Alane Daugherty, PhD, a stress expert who teaches courses in stress management, emotional health, embodied spirituality, health and well-being, and the psychophysiology of contemplative practice. She is co-director of the Mind and Heart Research Lab, a psychophysiology lab and stress management and emotional health facility at California Polytechnic State University, Pomona. She also serves as research consultant for the Center for Engaged Compassion at Claremont School of Theology.
